7:00 am Tuesday September 6th

7:00 am, Tuesday, September 6th. The house is a flurry of activity. Five alarm clocks went off in unison, three went sailing across bedrooms to smash into walls. One child actually sounds happy, two are groaning and it's a safe bet to say one is already back asleep. Then comes the sounds of three teenage girls fighting for the right to shower first and then ownership over a limited amount of bathroom counterspace in front of the mirror and snoring as The Boy has fallen asleep for the second time this morning.
Mom and I jump out of bed with grins on our faces as our house arrest ... er ... summer vacation is over and everyone must hurry to look their best for their first day back to school.
One is going to rule in her final year of public school, two are going into their first year of high school and one is going off to college to explore new and wonderful ways to spend my money.
It's a safe bet that not one of them did any of their recommended summer reading as it would have interfered with watching Much Music videos.
That's okay, Mom and I are free until Christmas holidays.
Crack open the champagne and let the celebrations begin!

And now for something completely different - GOOGLE TALK -

I happened upon your blog today and enjoyed reading it. I hope the mice can play, while the kids are away. Enjoy the solitude that back to school time brings.

Brilliant! I as well love it when it is back to school time. Although, I do miss the little voices of my childrens play. I guess I have more time to visit your site now!
